Who We Help
Spurned and rejected by his own mother, Elijah spent his early years moving from house to house, looking after himself for food, shelter, and clothing. Finally placed in the foster care system, he totals the number of houses he had stayed in to 42 by the time he aged out at age 18. With nowhere to go and no support system to turn on, he ended up at the Dream Center.

How We Help
The transition for a foster youth from foster care to “the real world” is abrupt: once he turned 18, Elijah was suddenly and completely on his own. The Dream Center offered every avenue of support for Elijah to begin a pattern of successful life choices. A beautifully renovated room that included a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom was provided for him while staff and volunteers ensured that his educational, spiritual, and emotional needs were met. When Elijah was finally able to stand on his own two feet, he finally had a place he could call home. His parting desire? To go to college and start his own Dream Center.

How You Can Help
The Dream Center provides housing and program services to youth in our community who are in similar situations as Elijah. However, because the need is so great, we are looking to expand these services in 2017. There are numerous ways you can help. Contact us today if you are interested in providing a donation, or in offering your compassion as a volunteer or mentor.
